Whether you pay or you don’t, the success rate for online dating sites is not too bad; it is difficult to put an exact number on the amount of successful marriages created by online dating, but the number is generally thought to be in the hundreds of thousands per year.
For most of the sites, you get to see a little bit of information about the person that you are potentially becoming involved with and you will usually be able to see a picture of them as well. Different polls yield different results, but the two characteristics that keep ending up being listed as the most important are a person’s smile and their personality.
On these sites you can usually get an idea of both. People value looks a little higher at the first date stage, but the smile remained close to the same in terms of importance, so being able to see someone’s smile on a dating site is very important.
It is not a perfect world, and if you expect too much you may be disappointed. As in any dating situation, it is hard to trust everything that a person says, as they are likely trying to impress you and the truth becomes a little bent if not broken. The same goes for the person that is meeting you.
